Mojo is back

I have been in a little bit of a funk for this last month as well as creatively restless. No matter what I did I wasn't happy with it and I just wanted to create. Today (on my hubby's birthday) I decided to try Zentangle® and stamps together. I have seen fellow CZTs create beautiful images by combining these two techniques. And wanted to learn.

On May 19th I attended the NUTZ (pronounced newts; aka New England CZTs) gathering in Massachusetts. Betty Abdu demonstrated how to use polymer clay to create Zentangles (probably try this tomorrow now that I have the necessary materials) and Melissa Hoopes demonstrated how to properly stamp and how to use the stamps with tangles... and yes, there is a proper way to stamp to make it look professional, clean and beautiful.

As a practice today I ended up creating this (below). I was tickled with how it came out and I even sold it! My first piece of art sold - so exciting! Hope you enjoy Angels at Play.

Random Acts of Art

Good afternoon everyone! What a lovely day today. So many things to be grateful for. This morning I created several invitations for a "Cupcake Tangle" a friend of mine will be hosting. She is throwing it as a late Birthday party to herself (lol) and hopefully we will have a great turn out. Now the fun begins to sit down and start cutting out cupcake shapes from watercolor paper to be able to tangle on.

Most people have heard of "Random Acts of Kindness" (RAOK). Yesterday on FaceBook a wonderful art friend posted about a group she joined called "Random Acts of Art" on FB. I just had to check it out and I am so happy I did. I encourage anybody who creates anything to join this group and spread the smiles (and also see what's around your house that can be recycled). It can be as simple as painting a heart on a rock or sewing a tiny fairy quilt. Let your mind expand and see what you can create.

The purpose of this group is to create little forms of art and leave them in random places for strangers to find (I like to see it as being someone's guardian angel for a moment). It has been cleverly mentioned to attach a little note stating that this is a gift for someone to find who may need a smile and they can choose to keep it or pass it on in the same manner. You can also attach little quotes to them.

Of course my mind went immediately on overload and I started thinking of all the things I can do (especially with crafts items that I have been hoarding for about 15 years that my dear husband I'm sure would be relieved to get rid of).

I hope you choose to at least view the group and find out what it's about and start spreading the art. You may be giving someone a smile who really needs it at the present moment, you could be their guardian angel!

Hugs,
Denyse

Freebie Zendala

I hope everyone is having plenty of sunshine like we are here in New England. I am hoping it will be this beautiful out for my vacation at the end of May. I have so many projects started and craft items everywhere that I spend more time hunting for stuff then creating stuff. I would like to get it somewhat organized. In the meantime I hope everyone will enjoy this Zendala. It is for personal use only and CZT's may distribute in their classes if they wish. I'm hoping to see some beauties out there :)

If you would like a PDF version please e-mail me and I will send it to you. At this time I am not able to figure out how to attach a PDF file to these posts.

Hugs,
Denyse

A little something different

Glorious day everyone!!! Beautiful day to be outside creating art! After I attended the CZT training in October, I decided to take an on-line art class by Adriana Almanza, called Doll Dreams Basic. My intent was to incorporate Zentangle with Doll Dreams. I thought I would share some of the ATCs that I have done. I hope you enjoy these. (I think next I need to find a colored-pencil class!)

C-Yeah Tangle

I have a new tangle that I came up with based on a design from Dover Publishing. I have been creating some beautiful ZIA's and would love to see what others come with using this tangle. As always there are numerous variations that you can do to this... this is just the basic :) Enjoy!

Rainy Day Freebies

Here in Connecticut it's a drizzly, foggy day, I'm not feeling well and would like to be in bed working on my next Zendala. The computer beckons and I can't resist creating more computer generated Zendalas. Trip down memory lane... "Mom I'm bored! There's nothing to do..." So for all you moms and dads out there I am creating a Rainy Day Freebie Page of Zendalas for you and your children to color (and if your adventurous you might decide to add some of your own tangles to them, too).

There are many ways to turn coloring into well meaning family time. Create challenges for each other that become a game, for example: "You can only use shades purple;" "Color all the round objects in yellow;" etc. And best of all once they are finished get creative in hanging them up through out the house. You could use some twine and clothespins; you could frame them; you could even create a family collage.

I hope all of you will enjoy this free page. Get Creative!
